Healthy Recipes Series: Overnight Oats
August 17, 2018
One of my goals this year is to at least lose some ( or should I say a lot of) unnecessary pounds in my body which I started gaining after I gave birth to my son 2 years ago. So ano nga ba strategy ko?
To achieve this I need to:
- Exercise regularly (eto need ko ng additional determination lalo na ngayon ang lamig ng panahon at ang sayang matulog!)
- Reduce my intake of "bad" foods (i.e. bad carbs such as white bread, white rice, pasta , etc., sugary foods, foods that are high in cholesterol) ; and
- Slowly increase my intake of healthy food.
- Change my choice of rice from "white" to "brown" (though sabi nila healthier daw ang red and black)
- Change my choice of coffee from "3-in-1" to "Decaf +Muscovado+Fresh Milk combination"
- Eat more veggies
- Be more conscious about nutritional content of what I am eating. I never imagined myself reading the nutritional label of an item before actually buying them in the grocery store.
- Prepare my own food. I realized that I am more in control of my food intake because I only need to prepare what I can only eat. Di katulad pag bumili ako sa labas, tendency napaparami ang kain ko kasi I hate thrashing blessings.
So now, I will start documenting all the recipes which I researched and tried on myself. As my first entry for this "Healthy Recipes Series", I will share to you how to prepare an "overnight rolled oats"
You will need the following ingredients:
- 1/2 cup of rolled oats (Harvester's Brown Rice)
- 3/4 cup of fresh milk (Alaska Fresh Milk)
- 1/2 cup yogurt ( Pascual Creamy Delight Greek Style)
- 1 slice of mango, diced.
Note: I am putting the brand that I used in ( ).
How to cook overnight oats?
- Combined the rolled oats, fresh milk, yogurt in your container.
- Stir with a spoon until well combined.
- Add the diced mangoes and mix.
- Cover and chill overnight
- Garnish with more diced ripe mangoes before serving.
You can also add other ingredients like honey, chia seeds, and nuts. But since these are the available ingredients in our home, eto na lang po muna for now 😁
