Ignorance is Curable; Stupid is Forever

April 27, 2015

Cover page of Stupid is Forever

Stupid is Forever is a book written by Sen. Mirriam Defensor-Santiago and published by ABS-CBN Publishing. It is a collection of jokes, pick-up lines and speeches delivered by the feisty lady senator herself. Unfortunately, I cannot grab a hard copy of this one as this is always out-of-stock in bookstores near our area. Could you imagine how good this book is?

Anyway, since I got really curious on the content of this highly appreciated book, I look it up in the internet to see if I could download its e-book (sorry to the anti-piracy group out there). Voila, I got one! But I won’t share the link here ok? "Baka ma-ban na tong blog ko if I do"

For those who haven’t read the book yet, here are some of the funny lines from the sold out book:

On Politics...

I don't mind dying for the Filipino youth and nation,
but I certainly don't want to die for politicians.

In a corrupt country, if you want to succeed in politics,
you must keep your conscience under control.

In any Congress, out of 100 people, 2 are honest and intelligent,
10 are criminals, and 88 are good for nothing.

I sponsored and defended the Reproductive Health Law, although I am a Catholic.
In the Catholic church, a woman to avoid pregnancy is allowed to resort to mathematics.
Thank God, now Catholic women are allowed to resort to physics and chemistry.

People are entitled to change their minds. But when politicians do so,
they always explain it in terms of incomprehensible principles.

The Napoles scandal showed that some politicians are the same all over the country.
They promise to build bridges where there are no rivers.

Two political candidates were engaged in a heated debate
Candidate 1: What about the powerful interests that control you?
Candidate 2: You leave my wife out of this!

All professionals in our country need to pass a government exam.
Only a politician does not need any kind of preparation to practice.

Pick-up lines...

Suicide. Homicide. Insecticide. Lahat na lang pamatay.
Pero kung gusto mo ng pampabuhay, i--try mo ang "by my side"

Laway ka ba? Kasi kahit tulog na ko, ikaw
pa rin ang lumalabas sa bibig ko.

Ang love ay parang bayad sa jeep.
Minsan hindi nasusuklian.

Funny jokes...

"You never know what you have until you lose it,
and once you lose it, you can never get it back." - Snatcher

"Kapag nagmamahal ako lagi na lang maraming tao ang nagagalit.
Wala ba akong karapatang magmahal?!" - Gasolina

"Hindi lahat ng maasim may Vitamin C." - Kili-kili

"Hindi lahat ng bumabakat sa damit ay nakakaakit" - Bilbil

Actually, these are some of the few lines lifted from the book. If you will read it, you will realize that all of the lines are witty and funny that you can't choose which among is your favorite. You'll enjoy more when you have the copy of the whole book. Trust me, it's worth your time and money.

How about you? Have you read the book already? Hope you could share to us your favorite lines also.
